The 70th Episode : No shortage of meat
[October, 1996 South Africa]
The first day was over, when our customer said “let’s go to eat lion for dinner”. No kidding, I thought. But it was not a joke. There were restaurants that serve lions, elephants, giraffes, crocodiles… etc. The restaurant I was taken didn’t have them but several kinds of meat were served.
A chunk of meat was skewered to be grilled. When the surface was grilled a staff walked to each table with the chunk. It was the similar way to Churrasco in Brazil (Brazilian barbecue) and Asado in Argentina (Argentine barbecue?).
I asked what meat it was each time, but I almost don’t remember. Only ostrich and impala are left in my brain. It was of course the first bite and was good without bad smell. I wonder how many kinds of meat they have. They seem to have no shortage of meat. I eat anything. I’m a firm believer in experiencing everything.
