The 6th Episode : Looks like Osaka
[November, 1982 Hong Kong]
So many people on Nathan Road! Approx. 5.5 million people were living in 1,104 square kilo metres in around 1982. Population density is approx. 5,000 per square kilo metre. But it’s the average for the whole Hong Kong. It’s said approx. 40 – 50,000 in the crowding area around the downtown in Kowloon. The whole area is a little smaller than Okinawa in Japan that is 1,207 square kilo metres. And its population is approx. 1 million.
I wondered why people walked fast as if they were all in a hurry. They don’t mind the red signals, crossing the street passing between vehicles in jam. Their tongues were well twisting. i.e. speaks fast as well. And sounds like a quarrel.
Fast walking, ignoring the red signals, fast speaking, sounds like a quarrel… that is very similar to Osaka people. I’d liked this city. (^ ^)/
