The 5th Episode : Non flashing neon signs
[November, 1982 Hong Kong]
After the sightseeing in a day time we went to a restaurant for dinner. In Natan Road, the main street in Kowloon, the neon signs in the fundamental colour were too shiny. Not only the fundamental colour but something is strange. Hmm? All the neon signs were just lit without flashing. It WAS a regulation here. Every lights and neon signs were prohibited to flash because Hong Kong Kai Tak airport was close to the town.
Only the lights in the airport was permitted to flash. Those lights in the town were permitted to flash after Kai Tak Airport was closed when new airport called Chek Lap Kok International Airport was opened in Lantau Island in 1998.
