Foreign countries are like this〜

The 175th Episode : How come so huge!?

Shanghai railway station, China

[October, 2007 Shanghai, China]

In the late of October, 2007, I landed at Pudong International Airport in Shanghai, China.  I wrote the nearest foreign country I visited was Taipei, Taiwan, but Shanghai is closer.  "Shanghai is just a bit further than Nagasaki" that were the words by my friend who frequently traveled back and forth for working with his joint venture.  Actually it takes only less than 150 minutes.

According to the schedule, I would go straight to Shanghai station and head to Nanjing by train today.  My colleague in China gave me a drive to Shanghai station driving on the motorway.  A huge number of high-rise flats stood along the motorway.  They seemed to symbolise China's rapid growth, especially here in Shanghai where had become the centre of the economy.

And then "Shanghai railway station" we reached!  This was also a huge building like an airport terminal building.  And huge letters “上海站 (Shanghai station)" were put on the top of the building in red, Chinese symbolic colour.  The square in front of the station was also quite large and people, people, people... over here and over there just like filling it.  How come was everything so huge in China?

Such CHINA ~  I'd come!
