The 51st Episode : Ignorance is guilty
[April, 1991 The Netherlands]
One day I took a Dutch national railways. Amsterdam Central Station is splendid appearance made with bricks. There are various views but it is said a model of Tokyo Station.
I purchased a ticket, when no problem with English conversation. I walked up to the appointed platform to wait for a train. Hmm? I didn’t pass through a ticket gate.
Many stations had no ticket gates, different from Japan. In short we could be at the platform and get on a train without tickets. However, if it is found out the penalty is not double of the official fare like Japan but awfully high they say. In-train ticket inspection was often made. Therefore passengers buy tickets honestly.
It is not accepted that I didn’t now how to get a ticket because of a foreigner. The same penalty is due also for the foreigners.
Ignorance is guilty.
