British Museum

[April, 1991 UK]

The western people cherish the old, especially the British people, that’s in my image.  I mentioned about the underground.  The old wooden escalators were still working at some stations, on my visit.  It sometimes looked a playground equipment for me, have looked only metal ones.  I had known it as I read some books.

Some parts were distorted because due to old and wooden, so it was rattling and some noise on them.

It’s very important to cherish the old. But the escalator at King’s Cross St.  Pancras Station was flammable and caught fire due to made of wood, causing havoc in November 1987.

I was impressed with the wooden escalator saw in first time but its survival is in jeopardy.  Should the old be gone?
